  • Best Buddies International$10,800 to the Winter Park Library Association to continue story telling program in two schools in Orange County.
  •  $15,000 to Best Buddies International, Inc. to sponsor new chapters at Dr. Phillips and Ocoee high schools of this friendship program that pairs a special needs student with a buddy.www.bestbuddiesflorida.org
  • $19,700 to MicheLee Puppets, Inc. to deliver two educational shows for 17,500 preschool, kindergarten and first grade students in 70 Orange and Osceola County schools in 2008-2009 school year.   www.micheleepuppets.org
  • $64,000 in two separate grants to Adult Literacy League to revise their on-line volunteer tutor orientation, Junior Achievementtraining, tutoring report, curriculum purchase and program evaluation process; and to expand their program to accommodate students waiting for service and provide technology to improve service delivery.   www.adultliteracyleague.org

  • $1,200,000 to University of Central Florida Foundation as part of a total $1,500,000 grant toward the establishment of a medical school, turning out practicing physicians.
  •  $2,500,000 to University of Central Florida Foundation to underwrite the establishment of The Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate, endow the Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar Chair in Real Estate, and provide scholarships to students who elect to earn a degree in real estate at UCF. www.bus.ucf.edu
